Flammarions World, Domino and E.I. are a triple of Vexier-films which where made for dome-projections. Films which does not have an explicit alignment of the framing.
This video was made for a projection inside of the cupolar of the Planetarium in Vienna, as part of the fullframe festival. It is an abstraction of the famous Flammarion woodcut from an anonymous artist, appearing in Camille Flammarion’s 1888 book L’atmosphère: météorologie populaire („The Atmosphere: Popular Meteorology“).
With a creaking noise the cover of a indoor pool is opening up, the pumps and motor running beside. The underwater lighting appears. One moment of silence and the cover is closing again. Likewise someone is opening the window to another world.
Dedicated to Oki Ona.
